第4回 写真「1_WALL」でグランプリを受賞した畑直幸さんが、9月から
写真の勉強をしにオランダへ留学するそうです。
The grand winner of 4th “1_WALL” photo contest Naoyuki Hata will be studying abroad in Netherlands starting this September.

ロンドンでもNYでもなくオランダです。
ベルリンでもパリでもなくオランダです。
しつこいですか？すみません。
Not London and not NY but Netherlands.
Not Berlin and not Paris but Netherlands.
Perhaps a bit redundant? Sorry about that.
というわけで渡航の準備で忙しい畑さんに、少しだけお話しを聞かせてもらいました。
btb：畑さんこんにちは。
「1_WALL」のグランプリ受賞、おめでとうございます。
畑：ありがとうございます。
btb：受賞作のタイトル「submerge garden」のsubmergeは水没という意味ですが、
没頭するという意味もあるそうです。
畑：あ、それは知りませんでした。偶然ですけど良い言葉ですね。
btb: Congratulations on your achievement at “1_WALL” photo contest.
Hata: Thank you very much.
btb: I would like to talk about your winning title “submerge garden” –the word submerge can
also be used as “devote” in a different context.
btb：9月からはオランダの大学に留学されるそうですが、どんな大学に通うんですか？
畑：アムステルダムにある Gerrit Rietveld Academie とゆう所に行きます。4年制の大学で色んな学科があるみたいです。僕は写真学科の２年生に編入という形で入る事になりました。
btb：オランダはご飯もおいしいし、景色もいいし、学ぶには最高の場所かもしれませんね！
畑：はい。余り知らないのでどんな感じか想像がつきませんね。
btb：来年は「1_WALL」の個展ですね。
畑：はい。自分でもどうなるのか解らないので、楽しみですね。
btb：畑さんありがとうございました！
畑：ありがとうございます。

btb: I heard that you are studying abroad in Netherlands starting this September. What school
are you going?
Hata: I will be studying at Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. It is a 4 year university and I
will be joining the school of photography as a Sophomore.
btb: The food and landscape in Netherlands are great, so I think you will have a great time
studying there!
Hata: Yes. It’s a new experience for me so I can’t imagine.
btb: I also heard that you will be having your solo exhibition at “1_WALL” next year.
Hata: Yes. I still don’t have any specific plans on what I will be doing so I’m looking forward to it
a lot.
btb: Thank you very much Hata san!
